| I know a lot of fisherman in Colorado
| |
| | have Senko style worms now its hard to
|
| mainly target trout, but the bass fishing
| |
| | keep up, but the Zoom Centipede is my
|
| can be excellent at times too!!! During
| |
| | favorite. With this lipless crankbait and
|
| the summer months I spend most of my
| |
| | Senko combination you have the arsenal to
|
| fishing time on smaller ponds targeting
| |
| | attack many of the metro area bass
|
| those big old bucketmouths. They bite
| |
| | lakes!!!Now its time for my favorite way
|
| hard, fight hard, and will have any
| |
| | to catch fish, hands down...Topwater!!!
|
| angler addicted if given the chance.A lot
| |
| | Everyday during the spring and summer
|
| of trout fisherman have problems making
| |
| | months I'll be at one of my bass lakes
|
| the transition to bass for a few reasons.
| |
| | before the sun comes up tossing out Zara
|
| When you're used to throwing out tiny
| |
| | Spooks and Buzzbaits. If you've never
|
| spinners and spoons, a big bass plug or
| |
| | caught a bass on topwater lures, you,re
|
| jig looks huge. Bass routinely eat
| |
| | truly missing out. Although I've caught
|
| bluegills, baby bass, bullfrogs, and even
| |
| | fish all day on topwater lures, the best
|
| snakes, so don't be shy about using big
| |
| | times are low light periods...early in
|
| tackle...its amazing how many small fish
| |
| | the morning, and as the sun goes down.
|
| I'll catch using a big Zara Spook.Do you
| |
| | First, lets talk about using a Zara
|
| have to buy a new rod and reel for bass
| |
| | Spook...If you're not familiar with a
|
| fishing? No!!! You can get away with
| |
| | Zara Spook, its what we call a walking
|
| using light tackle in certain
| |
| | bait. Basically thru a series of short
|
| situations...actually for most smaller
| |
| | jerks with your rod tip, you can make
|
| ponds in the metro area light tackle is
| |
| | your Zara Spook "Walk the Dog". It takes
|
| perfect. It limits the baits you can
| |
| | time and practice but once you get used
|
| throw, but smaller baits can really shine
| |
| | to walking the dog, its cake. With a Zara
|
| at times. If you're going to use your
| |
| | Spook you're limited to areas where there
|
| trout rod and reel, I suggest no lighter
| |
| | isn't too much weed growth on top, due to
|
| than 6lb test and stick to lines without
| |
| | having a couple of exposed treble hooks.
|
| too much stretch. If small diameter lines
| |
| | My favorite way to fish a Zara Spook is
|
| are what you're comfortable with, I would
| |
| | parallel to shore lines.Casting 3 or 4
|
| use a braided line...Berkley Fire Lne is
| |
| | feet out from shore and walking the dog
|
| awesome. I always prefer a rod with a lot
| |
| | all the way in will get some explosive
|
| of back bone to ensure good hook
| |
| | strikes. When fishing topwater lures,
|
| sets!!!Let's talk about some basic lures
| |
| | it's really common for bass to miss the
|
| and plastics to get you started. Lipless
| |
| | lure a couple times before taking it. So
|
| crankbaits such as the Cordell Spot or
| |
| | if you get a hit, but don't hook up, cast
|
| Rattlin' Trap are great lures that don't
| |
| | back to the same spot as fast as
|
| take years to master. Using a basic slow
| |
| | possible. 9 times out of 10, the fish
|
| retrieve will get you hooked into a good
| |
| | will hit again. Another thing thats hard
|
| number of fish at many local lakes and
| |
| | for fisherman who have just started
|
| ponds. Early in the year a Firetiger
| |
| | fishing topwater baits is to wait until
|
| Rattlin Trap is killer on Spratt
| |
| | you actually feel the fish on before
|
| Platte(100th and Mckay). Like I said,
| |
| | setting the hook. I know its hard to hold
|
| just make long casts and a slow
| |
| | back when you see a fish smack your lure,
|
| retrieve...Don't worry about jigging or
| |
| | but you'll catch a lot more bass if you
|
| complicating things. Cast her out and
| |
| | wait until you feel the fish before
|
| reel her in!!! Senkos!! Senkos!! Senkos!!
| |
| | setting the hook. My all time favorite
|
| These plastics are fish catching machines
| |
| | Zara Spook color...hands down...is red
|
| even though they don't look like much. If
| |
| | and white.Buzzbaits are really effective
|
| you're not familiar with the Senko style
| |
| | top water lures and on average produce
|
| plastic worm, it pretty much looks just
| |
| | larger fish. No need to get fancy just
|
| like a pen. You can rig a Senko style
| |
| | casting out and reeling in fast enough to
|
| worm a number of different ways, but for
| |
| | keep your bait above water is perfect. To
|
| me the most productive has always been
| |
| | really maximize results when fishing a
|
| "wacky rigged".Basically all you do is
| |
| | buzzbait, bumping cover is a must. If you
|
| get a light wire hook and stick it right
| |
| | see a fallen log floating in the water
|
| in the middle of your Senko style worm.
| |
| | cast over it and bring your lure right
|
| After you make a cast, the Senko slowly
| |
| | over the top of it. Something about
|
| flutters to the bottom and it drives fish
| |
| | buzzbaits hitting objects in the water
|
| crazy. Bite detection is a little
| |
| | drives bass nuts. Sure you'll get hung up
|
| different when fishing a Senko...although
| |
| | and lose a few but its well worth the
|
| there will be times that your line darts
| |
| | numbers and size of fish while bumping
|
| off and, without a doubt, you have a fish
| |
| | cover. My favorite color buzzbait is
|
| on. There will also be days when the only
| |
| | black!!!Hopefully this helps out a
|
| detection of a bite is a little twitch in
| |
| | little. If you have any questions, use
|
| your line. Basically any little ticks or
| |
| | the forum or email me and I'll gladly put
|
| pauses on the fall...I set the hook.
| |
| | you onto some great metro area bass
|
| After the Senko hits the bottom, leave it
| |
| | lakes. Spring is just around the corner
|
| there for as long as a few minutes, look
| |
| | and to the people in the know, it means
|
| for little ticks in your line, and set
| |
| | great bass fishing in our own
|
| the hook. A great place to use Senko's is
| |
| | backyard!!!Eric Allee is a tremendous
|
| Quincy Reservoir in Aurora!!!I suggest
| |
| | fisherman in Colorado. His greatest joy
|
| waders to get to some of the brush piles,
| |
| | is helping others catch more and bigger
|
| but right off the dock will put you onto
| |
| | fish.
|
| fish as well. So many different companies
